I was expecting good things when I first visited the store. However, I wasn’t quite expecting it to be as amazing as it was. The records on sale in Rise Above Records & Relics are simply mindblowing. I have never seen so many rare records in one place at the same time. The owner is quite clearly a serious collector and has designed the shop/curated the stock with fellow collectors in mind. Unlike many other shops that are trying to cash in on the so-called ‘vinyl boom’ this shop obviously cares more about what they do than simply making a fast buck. Everything I looked at and bought was in top condition, priced realistically and very fair. I was in the UK for 10 days and went to pretty much every record store in London; some great and some not so great. Rise Above records & Relics was easily the coolest of the lot. Totally friendly and knowledgable staff too. Highly recommended! Chad Davis, Baltimore USA.

I sold my cherished collection of punk and reggae singles to the shop, as I was in the process of leaving the country. Lee couldn’t have been more gracious and understanding. He made me feel like the records were going to a good place and gave me a great deal on them too! Highly recommended. Pamela Kaye, East Barnet.

I sold my late husband’s jazz and soul collection to Lee and couldn’t be happier. I didn’t realise that the collection was worth so much in value. He spent most of the day going through the collection with me and discussing the records with interest and knowledge. He was a very pleasant chap and I’m very happy to have done the deal with him. Ronda Wilson, Gt Yarmouth.

Me and my girlfriend were in London for the weekend in August, due to my band playing at The Forum. We had a list of places to go, number 1 on the list was Rise Above Records & Relics, which wasn’t too far from where we were staying. I had met Lee back in the late 80s when he played in Oslo with his old band. That was a crazy time. I had seen Lee in concert several times since then but never had the chance to speak to him again. Anyway, I’m so glad we made it to the shop, as he was there along with the very gracious lady who worked with him. He remembered the gig in Oslo and we reminisced. Anyway the shop is amazing, with the best selection of used metal I have ever seen. There was also a killer selection punk and hardcore singles, as well as crazily rare 70s prog LPs. I bought a nice stack of stuff at a great price and to top it off, Lee joined us briefly for a beer afterwards. Happy days! Svein L. Bergen, Norway

The best record shop in the UK. Amazing selection of psych, prog, folk, reggae, metal etc rarities. Has numerous records in the racks that in most shops would be up on the wall in pride of place. Austin Matthews, Reading UK

We were getting rid of a lifetime’s worth of LPs and asked Lee to come and have a look. He did, and bought a lot of our collection from us at a fair price. For the ones he didn’t take, he gave us the name of someone in Oxfam who came to collect the rest of them, so I hope that between the two there are many people out there enjoying what my husband and I enjoyed for decades. Lee and his lady are both very pleasant to deal with, both in the shop and in the home. Highly recommended. Sim Dixon, London
